Rose Water

~ My Peaceful & Unlazy Days ~

Our Veggie Garden is finally put in just this week and I'm getting ready to tackle the flower beds next. But I just had to try something while my rose was ablooming!

My rose: Zephrine Druhin has a new purpose for me... my own special blend of Rosewater.

I recently fell upon an old and ancient secret for soft skin ~ rosewater. So instead of letting all those pink petals fall to the ground, I gathered them up to see if I could make my own rosewater with this flower that is so dear to me.

For my first batch I thought a steamer would work - Um no - a waste of time...

But after strictly following instructions on Internet I found success!

~The home still~

While I know I can buy Rosewater in a specialty shop/aisle,
I just wanted to make use from one of my most wonderful
 gifts of spring (this rose).

First, beauty for the eye to behold; second, velvety soft bright pink petals to touch; and last but not least, the amazing distinct scent belonging to the rose.

I am finding myself becoming aromatherapy minded. So I've also experimented with making my own lavender oil smelling salts~which were also used long ago as a stress reliever remedy and for headaches. Just fill a little bottle with Sea Salt and Pure Lavender Essence Oil scented to your own personal strength 10 - 20 drops or so...

My Lavender Smelling Salts

My parents remember Lavender Smelling Salts being sold back in the 30's-40's. So, again, another lost legacy of our past that may help some of us today...

I hope to have a most enjoyable summer and as the old saying from so long ago that my mom told me she used to sing as a kid goes.....  School's Out! School's Out! The Teacher Let The Fools Out!  ~ I thought it was kinda cute and with me working in a school cafe well, let's just say I myself was ready to be let out for a spell :)

HAPPY SUMMER!
